Blends
Blends contain industrial chemicals of individual interest to AICIS.
A blend in Chemintro is made by linking chemicals via their blend proportions. They are most useful for saving data entry effort when a number of different products have largely the same set of ingredients.
Tagged Flavour/fragrance blend chemicals, however, are categorised under different rules for typically low (<=1%) concentrations in end-use products.
Chemintro handles blends as follows:
All blends:
- A named blend may have its own CAS number and chemical properties
- Any chemical in Chemintro becomes a blend if it has one or more chemicals linked, each with its individual blend proportion
- Any single chemical ingredient may simultaneously be in numerous blends
- Inserting a blend in a product at a particular proportion, inserts its linked chemicals pro rata in their correct proportions
- If a product has an existing chemical ingredient in common with one in the blend, the proportion in the product of that chemical will be automatically increased
Flavour/fragrance blends:
- A blend becomes a Flavour/fragrance blend if one or more of the abovementioned links are tagged accordingly
- Flavour/fragrance categorisation rules apply to chemicals in Flavour/fragrance blends
